Fed: Abbott admits insurance rise pressuring family budgets

CANBERRA, Feb 28 AAP - Health Minister Tony Abbott today admitted a 7.5 per cent rise
in health insurance premiums would put more pressure on family budgets.
But he rejected claims the extra costs - around $150 a year for a family - would deter
people from taking out private health cover or drive young people away.
Mr Abbott said no-one liked prices rises but it could never be expected that health
insurance premiums would remain as they were.
